Going Forward

My checkup appointment with Dr. Phlaum went well last Thursday. He seemed to think that I was doing great, and released me to do whatever I felt like doing. I explained that I was getting winded easily on the court, but we both agreed it was more a fitness conditioning issue rather than a heart issue. He assured me that my heart muscle and valves were all in great working condition with no problems at all. I told him I had experienced a few flutters since the ablation. I knew there was a chance that would happen, and I haven't be overly alarmed about them. He did put me back on the portable heart monitor for two weeks to see if we can track the activity. Since I've had the monitor, I've had one episode of fluttering. I'm scheduled to see him again in about a month. I know there is an ever so slight chance that I may have to have an additional procedure done if proven necessary by the monitor. Until then I'll just keep on keepin' on.

Today Phil and I started our workouts with Geoff. I was so glad to get that going again. I don't know yet when my first tournament will be. Still thinking about the grass courts which is about 4-5 weeks away. It's just a good feeling to be back working out. Phil and I have continued to hit daily as well. We have made a commitment to get in the best shape we can, by eating healthier and exercising more. It can only help our overall health and improve our tennis. It's wonderful to have such an encouraging and supportive partner who has the same interests and passions for doing things as I do. I love my life!

We've been to the beach a couple of afternoons this week. The water and beaches are just beautiful. A little seaweed, but that's about it. The news reports continue to be very grim. Pictures of oil filled waters from Orange Beach and Pensacola remind us that it's not that far away from us. It seems inevitable that we will be affected. We just don't know to what degree.
