Walkover Bronze

Fran and I started the day with our usual early warm up. We've had the same routine all week and as much as I hate to admit it, I begin to feel a bit superstitious about it all. I park in the same spot, Fran and I hit on the same court...all the little things you do by habit, because it's worked all week. Phil had another hit with Ross Persons. We're both taking advantage of all the great tennis around us.
Before my consolation singles and Fran's final, we learned that Ann Whitney wasn't going to be able to play our doubles playoff because of a sprained ankle from her previous match. We were disappointed, only because we were looking forward to playing a great team in some fun doubles. So we took third by default. I won my singles against Erika this morning. She is a really good player that hits a big ball. I knew she was keeping her energy and sights on the doubles final she and Mary had later in the day. Tomorrow I play another tough competitor in Anna Zimmerman. She hits alot of different spins that keep you guessing. I'll have to be on my toes and ready for everything.
Fran won her singles final against Vesna. It was a hard fought, three setter. Fran is one of the most mentally tough players I know. Later this afternoon Mary and Erika won the doubles against Susan and Vesna in another three set thriller. It's fun to watch such great tennis, but it's more fun to be playing! Phil and I stayed around the courts most of the day watching and cheering. The weather was a little cloudy and downright chilly. Another day of fun tennis on tap for tomorrow.
