Last Day

We chose to sleep in a little longer this morning rather than get up to hit. It's the first day we've had the luxury to do that. After breakfast we started watching some of the finals, in particular the Men's 55 singles. The unseeded Denmark player that Phil lost to in the quarters was playing the number two seed from Brazil for the title. It was a great three set match and in the end the unseeded player won. In fact, we checked all the results of the singles finals in the ten events, and at least 5 of those draws were won by unseeded players. Most of the day was spent watching the remaining matches. There were still some USA players in the different finals today and it was a treat to get to watch them play.

The weather started out a little overcast and foggy, but by mid afternoon the clouds burned off and it turned into a beautiful day. I finished my book by the pool, organized and repacked my suitcase, then Phil and I took a walk just outside the resort around the beach area. We have had a wonderful two week stay here. I loved watching, and practicing last week, and then finally getting to play this week. Phil and I played well and enjoyed our time together. It's never long enough. We both have come away with great memories of the fun times. More importantly, we both have things we can work on to improve our games.

We have a long day of travel tomorrow. The shuttle back to Palma is picking us up at 4 a.m. and our flight leaves at 7:05. I should be home around 4:30. It will be incredibly hard leaving Phil in Atlanta. Hopefully we'll see each other again in early June.

Thanks to everyone for following our adventures!

Dear Myke and Phil,

Thank you so much for letting me feel as though I was in Spain with you. You both played great and I am proud of your accomplishments. Your daily reports of the matches each day were well written and I felt as though I was right there with you. It sounds as if you love each other more than you did two weeks ago. That's good. I'm glad you are able to see each other in June. Congratulations to both of you. Love you, Tillie
