Home Again

It amazes me how I can wake up in one country and hours later be going to bed in another! The 2:45 a.m. alarm (Monday morning Mallorca time...7:45 p.m. Sunday night Destin time) came awfully early this morning. Jim called our room to make sure we were up and at 'em to catch the shuttle to the airport. By the time we walked our bags to reception, other players were wearily waiting for the shuttle as well. Our time in Mallorca had come to an end. The bus arrived as scheduled and the 90 minute ride to the airport was uneventful. Most of us going to Barcelona were on the same flight, although some were returning to the states through Madrid. Jim and Trish were going through Madrid. By the time we got our bags off the bus, and got through ticketing, we didn't see them and were not able to say our goodbyes. I felt just terrible. We all loved having them there as cheerleaders and supporters. Jim gave Phil a lot of new joke material (which Phil desperately needed!). Trish and Jim made friends easily with many of the players and it was a special treat to have them share this incredible trip with us.

Fran, Mary Claire and Tom and Deb were on our 10 hour flight to Atlanta. For some reason the flight seemed even longer. The dread of leaving Phil again was weighing heavy. We did our best to make light of our impending separation. We recounted each day we spent together and what we enjoyed the most on our trip. We landed on time in Atlanta and made our way through customs. We said our good byes to the rest of our group and Phil walked me to my gate. Neither of us wanted to let go, but it was time. I tried my best not to be too big of a baby...I'm not very good at it though. The tears came easily. We'll figure out when we can see each other again as soon as we're settled back into our routines. Hopefully it will be very soon.

Stan picked me up at the airport. I am so grateful and thankful for all those who go out of their way to do such nice things for me and allow me to do what I do. Renee and Jerry kept things going at work, Scott cut my grass, my neighbors kept a watchful eye on my house. I'd be lost without them! I'm absolutely worn out and exhausted from the long day of travel. I've started some wash, but will finish that duty and the rest of my unpacking tomorrow. This has been another wonderful chapter in my life adventures and has provided memories that will last a lifetime.

I get exhausted just reading your blog - so glad you had a great trip and could spent such quality time with Phil. Trish and Jim had to have loved being there, too. I can't wait to hear their tales. Get some rest and tell the Hidden Dunes gang we said "hi". Love, Joan

Glad you're home safe and sound. It sounded like a wonderful trip and we sure enjoyed reading about it. Wish we could all have been there. Rest well and enjoy being home. Love, Ginny and Bob
