Easy, Breezy Day

The guys had an easy day against team Turkey. Larry played #2 singles, Bill #1 singles and Tom and Phil played the doubles. Few games were lost in any of the matches. Phil and I were able to get a good hour of hitting in this morning, then one of the Turkey players asked me to warm him up for doubles. It´s fun hitting with all these different players. The weather was sunny and bright, but the breeze picked up this afternoon and made it very tricky for everyone. The highlight of everyone´s day at Tennis Ranch Palmanova was that Ana Invanovic came out to practice. She caused quite a stir...obviously more for the men who were checking her out....her game that is! She is quite tall and fit and hits a very big ball. After about an hour and half, she left but was nice enough to hang for a few minutes while pictures were being snapped.

Tomorrow the guys have a very tough quarterfinal match against Spain. They will be tested, but I really think they can win. I´ll do my best to cheer them on to victory! The girls won today against Sweden and play Great Britain in the quarters tomorrow. I like their chances.

After returning from the courts late this afternoon, we gathered our dirty clothes and walked to a nearby "fluff and fold" laundry run by a British woman. Bill Roach´s wife Brenda, friend, Katy and daughter Spencer came in this afternoon and we met them at our favorite little restaurant for some food and laughs. The players have the Gala team dinner tonight at a hotel across the street. I´m hanging with Fran´s sister, Mary Claire, catching up on emails. We´ll meet everyone back here in the lobby later.

The guys are doing really well! I hope they do as well tomorrow. I'll look forward to the next chapter in your book. In your next life you should be a writer. Tillie
