What a fun day! Marilyn and I both woke up rested and ready to face the day. We had an early morning warm up then settled in to watch some matches. Because this is my first tournament of the year, I'm seeing all the friends that I haven't seen since last year. The weather today was just perfect...70, no clouds and no wind. I won my first round handily against a Houston girl who could knock the cover off the ball, but fortunately for me, most of them were out. Tomorrow I play a girl from California who I've played before. Every match is a new experience. My goals are the same...play focused and practice good habits from the beginning. An unexpected twist came up today. Pam Dodman's partner is hurt and had to pull out of doubles. She asked if I would fill in and take her place. Pam is a good doubles player and we'll make a good team. I'm really looking forward to playing doubles now too. My singles match is at 8:30 then we have doubles at 12:30. Marilyn is fitting in great with all the gang. Next year she'll be playing rather than spectating!
