Bronze Day
It was nice going to sleep last night knowing we didn't have to get up early or be on any rigid schedule today. Since my doubles match wasn't scheduled until three we virtually had all day to rest and relax. My body was tired and sore from all the tough singles and doubles matches the past two days. I welcomed the thought of having only to play doubles today. I slept pretty good and it took a good part of the day, with lots of stretching, to get my body ready to play. We went to the courts around 11:30, had lunch, watched a few matches then Marilyn warmed me up for doubles. Pam was on the court playing her 35's semis with Mary Dailey. They won and we went on right at three. I was expecting a pretty tough match from the beginning. I had played one of the girls in singles a couple of years ago and knew she was a good player. Pam and I took control from the beginning and won the first set 6-2. We were down a break, 1-2 in the second set, but were able to break back and go on to win the match 6-2, 6-2. For our first outing together we did great placing third and getting a bronze ball. Fran and Susan lost their doubles final to Mary Dailey and Erika Smith. That match was on court next to ours and it appeared that Mary and Erika just over powered the two of them. Now it's time to focus on my singles final tomorrow morning at ten. I'm very excited to have the opportunity to play Fran. She is a great competitor and good friend, so I know I'll have fun. I can have fun and still play focused and determined tennis.
