I didn't sleep well last night knowing I had to get up at 4:30 this morning for my 6:45 flight out of Monterey. We left right on time and all was looking good to be home by 5:45 this afternoon...until the pilot aborted the take off due to fuel pump pressure problems. By 9:30 I was in a cab compliments of American Airlines, on my way to San Jose, to catch an 11:20 flight to Dallas. I arrived in time to find out the flight to Dallas was overbooked. Ouch....they were begging for volunteers to give up seats. It looked like I was doomed to be in San Jose until tomorrow. Somehow, by the grace of God, there was one seat open in the very back of the plane and of all the other passengers hoping to get that seat, they called my name! I was practically riding on the back engine of this huge plane, but I didn't care. At least I'd made it on. Now I'm in Dallas, with a three hour wait to leave for FWB. If all goes well, I'll be home tonight around 11:30. I'm just exhausted and ready to get home. As I reflect back on my week in Salinas, I have mixed emotions. I traveled a long way to play, and hoped my results would be better. But for all the successes I've had in the past, I must learn that there are some weeks that just don't produce the results you'd like. I'll rest my body and start preparing myself mentally and physically for the Cup and World competitions. 16 more days.
