A Good Start

Today was a good day for team Florida. The day started out much cooler and windier, as forecasted. We warmed up as a team around 7:15 this morning, then got started right on time at 8:00. I played the same girl I had played last year at Intersectionals in Austin, TX on hard courts. Last year, we had an incredibly tough three set match that I eked out. This year I'm in a much better place mentally and physically and I won handily 6-1, 6-1. I was very pleased with the way I played. JoAnne lost a tough match at #1, 6-4, 7-5. Her opponent is a very good player and played exceptional today. Susan won her match at #2, 6-0, 6-2. So we were 2-1 up going into doubles. We felt like we could sweep the doubles with no problem and we did. Susan and I won 6-1,6-1 at #2 and Mary and JoAnne won 2 and 4 at #1. Tomorrow we play Northern California. They too have a strong team, but I like our match ups all the way down the line up. We've all got a match under our belt and feel confident. The other semis is Southern vs Texas. That will be a battle as well.

Girl...you rock. The team sounds like it is in good shape. I'm rooting for you'll to go all the way.

Good job Myke and team. Keep it up! Who's your new foreign friend? Did you get someone to read that for you?
