I knew my match today against Tracey would be tough. But I also knew I was fit and ready to play. Susan and I had a good warm up...she's not an early riser, so instead of meeting at the courts early and getting on before the matches start, we meet mid morning and jump on courts as matches finish and ask the winner of that match to take their time reporting the score so we can use the court before another match is sent out. Believe it or not, it works! It took me a few games to figure Tracey's game out. We were tied 3-3 in the first set, she broke me and then held to go up 5-3. I never felt out of the set, and one of my strengths is to not worry about the score. Just win points and the score will take care of itself. I was able to hold and break back and go on the win the set 7-5. From there my confidence continued to build and I won 6-1 the second set. Since working out with Geoff, my trainer, I've gotten so much more upper body strength, plus I feel like my balance and recovery from certain shots is so much better. I now play Susan in the semis tomorrow. A rematch from the Grass Court semis where she won in three sets. I'm looking forward to a great singles match tomorrow!
In double this afternoon we played the number one seeds, my friends Fran and Kathy. We lost a very close 6-4, 6-4. They're a good team, but certainly beatable. I was extremely disappointed in the loss, as I felt like I let my partner down. I know it takes a team to win or lose a match, but I was really hoping we would be playing for a Gold Ball tomorrow. We do have a playoff for third and fourth tomorrow afternoon.
The weather continues to be spectacular. No humidity, highs in the 80's, lows in the 50's.

Good battle in the singles to then win going away! I knew from seeing the doubles score that it had to be a good match. Did y'all have a chance to break them at all? Good luck tomorrow. The patient's doing well. Eating pretty good and walking around all day long. Renee will be here on Friday.
Retsy will recover quickly after nurse Broxson takes over for a couple of days. A little red wine and some rumikub goes a long way. Really thinking about you this afternoon. I am getting good vibes from across the country. Talk to you soon. Nurse Broxson
