Practice Day

I arrived in Philadelphia yesterday with no problem. I waited for Mom and away we went. Once settled in the hotel, I was eager to get to the courts. The Merion Cricket Club is so rich in tradition. There were alot of tournament players and club members milling around. I quickly spotted my friends Mary Dailey and Trish Riddell on one of the back courts practicing. I made my way back and was able to hit for about 45 minutes. The grass felt good. The court surface is hard and the ball is bouncing at least knee to thigh high, which is very good. Having had so much practice before getting here, there were little adjusting to do. There is a forecast of possible rain this week which will make the courts soft, producing little to no bounce. Today Mom and I went to the courts early and I hit with Susan, my doubles partner. We were able to get a good hit in, plus play a few minutes of doubles. After a late lunch, Mom and I came back to the hotel so she could get her walking shoes. We went across the street to the humongus King of Prussia Mall and did a 45 minute power walk for her to get some exercise too. She's in her element being here and I love having her here too. Tomorrow I play singles at 11 and doubles at 2. I can't wait! Check at bottom of posts for pictures!
