This blog will allow me to journal my experiences both on and off the court in upcoming tournaments and travels.

Practicing Hard
I was back at Sandestin hitting on the grass again yesterday. Chris, the head pro at Sandestin, has been nice enough to let me come over twice a week until I leave for Philadelphia. The courts at Merion Cricket Club are a different blade of grass and gives a truer bounce. But the feel underfoot is the same and that is a big advantage for me to be able to be on grass before heading up. The 40's and 50's Grass Court Nationals are in New York the week before the 45's and 55's. Many players use New York as a warm up tournament, even though it's not their age group. It gives them more match play on the grass. I do know that one advantage I'll have is being used to the heat. I'm out teaching in it most mornings, then practicing mid day when the heat and humidity are at its peak. I'm trying my best to improve my eating habits to better fuel my body. I have no problem with hydrating....I drink lots of water and Gatorade throughout the day. However, my choice and quantity of food intake are not always the best. I don't enough and I especially don't make the best choices. Veggies are not my favorite and cooking for one is a pain. Frozen cheese pizzas and turkey sandwiches are so much easier. Maybe I'll throw some lettuce on my turkey sandwich...does that count?
