I have not been diligent about keeping up my blog . I can’t remember why, and it doesn’t really matter why. Phil played at the beginning of the year in a couple of tournaments. Both events were in Naples, one a smaller tournament and one a CAT ll. He only played doubles and won both. So he started the year the way he ended it...a winner!
Then work hit and it’s been non stop! Lots of teaching, organizing and the fun that goes with it. Well, I’m not sure I’d call it all fun, but whatever it is, it’s all consuming...mind, body and soul. We Love what we do, where we do it and who we do it for!
I decided about 8 ago to test the waters and think about playing again. My National Clay Courts in Houston were looming ahead and I wondered if I could be disciplined enough to get ready and still stay focused on work. Not my strong suit. I’m usually good at staying focused on just one thing and giving it my all. But I wanted to do both, work and play. With Phil’s encouragement and support I decided to go for it. Fran was going and willing to play doubles again which is always a bonus.
Long story short...and 8 weeks later, I’m in Houston with Fran. I play my first round singles match tomorrow at 9:00, and we play doubles on Tuesday. I’ve worked pretty hard to get here and eager to see what I can do. I wish I had more match play under my belt, but it is what it is.
Phil is left at home to be in charge of Ellie (most important) and work. He’ll do fine with both...but I do have a lot of secret eyes 👀 looking after both of them!
