Fran and I found our groove this morning on how to schedule our days for the upcoming week. Up early, first breakfast at Denny’s by 6:15, first hit at the club by 7:00. Second breakfast at the club by 7:30, then ready to play match at 9:00.
I woke up with a few butterflies, but I know that is a good sign. Not knowing anything about your opponent is unnerving. I just focused on playing today, no end result thinking. I hit every ball with a purpose, trying to keep the ball out of the middle of the court. It worked. The girl I played hit a ball that worked to my advantage, but I still had to make my shots and I did. And it felt good. I won 6-1, 6-1.
So now on to tomorrow. I play the #1 seed who I have played many times. She has much more recent match play than I do, but I know I can hang in there and anything can happen. I always like to be in the position of having nothing to lose. I’ll do my best and let the results take care of themselves.
We play doubles at 3:15. It’s against a good team, but we’ll think about that after singles. One match at a time.
