Today Phil played a singles match in the back draw. Most men players don’t play the back draw (also known as the consolation draw). I guess they feel that if they aren’t playing for the main prize, not that there ever is a “prize”, it’s not worth it. Phil needs these matches...main draw, back draw, call it what you want. The more he can play right now the better. I also feel like it sets a good example to other players that shows a top ranked player will continue to play, even if it’s not for the “main prize”. Whatever that is.
Phil won his match 6-2, 6-1. He will play both singles and doubles tomorrow.
Ellie and I are just hanging out doing our thing. Work is quiet and home is quiet. We’re just happy that Phil is back in it!
