Sunny Day

The sun shined in New York today.  Phil and Phil played their semi final match this morning and won 6-1, 7-6.  What a great accomplishment for them to make the finals in only their third tournament together.  This was young Phil's first time to play on the grass, and he adapted well.

Because of the rainout yesterday, they played the finals this afternoon.  Unfortunately they met their match.  They lost the final 6-2,6-1.  According to Phil, the opposing son was too strong for both he and Phil to take advantage of.

Overall it was an awesome experience for young Phil to play in a national final with his dad...the top ranked doubles player in the country. And for Phil to be able to share the time with his son on the court, has to be a highlight of his long tennis career.

Now Phil will spend a couple of more days in New York to practice before heading to New Jersey.  Two weeks away from home is a long time, but I'm happy he is healthy and able to do what he loves to do best.

Ellie is great company and keeps me plenty busy!

Phil doesn't play again until Wednesday, so I'll catch up then.
