I wrote this post almost 3 weeks ago, while at the airport. I must have forgotten!!!
I returned home to Little Rock this weekend to attend the celebration of life for my Aunt Margie who passed away about a year ago. I was there for only 48 hours.
My cousins wanted to wait to have any service for her after she passed, and after a year finally felt they were prepared. In honor of my Mom (and for me) I felt it was best I went. I flew up early Friday morning, had lunch with Steve, visited my parents at the columbarium, spent time with my best friend Melissa, had dinner with Steve Duffel and Sharon...ate a Shipley's donut, attended the Celebration, had dinner with Melissa, and was back in Naples by 11:30 a.m on Sunday. Definitely a whirlwind trip!
A very short trip, but so worth it. Sometimes a quick trip home is all you need to touch base with your roots and feel grounded again. I am so grateful to Phil for his love, support and encouragement to always remember where you came from.
Many, many years ago Little Rock was my home and I have so many wonderful memories there that I will cherish forever. Now it's back to Naples to finish setting up our new home. I have a full understanding that home is where the heart is. My heart is with Phil. In Naples.
