Live For Another Day

Another beautiful day in sunny, south Florida. I almost feel like I'm in another country. Not because of the people, just the drastic change in weather and scenery. Today was in the mid 80's, people were swimming in the pool, lounging freely without a care in the world. As I mentioned before, the landscape is so green and lush with flowers blooming and birds chirping. A little piece of paradise.

Fran and I had a good nights sleep in our new accommodations, with a great breakfast. We had a couple of different warm ups before playing our mid day matches. Fran won easily, and I played a little less nervous today and won 6-1, 6-0. I did some things better, but still need to improve in other areas. I like the way I'm serving, and hitting my backhand. My forehand needs to be a little looser so I can get some depth on the ball. We had a fairly easy doubles match this afternoon and won that match 6-0, 6-1. The highlight of our day was that our friend Mary Dailey came to watch us play. We all had lunch together with lots of laughs. She lives in Delray Beach, and because she's still in the 45's, she didn't play this event.

Tomorrow will be a tough singles day for me. I play Susan Love, a strong lefty from North Carolina. She was a Margaret Court Cup teammate of mine in Turkey. I'll have to play tough, but I'm ready for the challenge. Our doubles is tomorrow afternoon against a good team. It will be day filled with great tennis and big challenges. I'm ready.
