Matters of the Heart

I had a good report from Dr. Phlaum on Wednesday. He feels like the medication is working to keep away any residual flutters I'd been having. The best news is that I don't have to wear the portable monitor anymore! I gladly packed that baby up and sent it back that afternoon. I'll be on the meds for about 3 months then see him again. I'm free to do whatever I feel like doing. Yea! I've continued my workouts with Geoff, and amping up my practices on the court. I need to decide by the weekend if I'm going to be ready for the grass court nationals in early July. I'm just not sure if I'll be ready to play by then. I'll sleep on it a couple of more days, then decide.

The oil situation is obviously a big topic of concern and conversation for everyone here. Business wise, I think we've been affected some. It seems like vacationers are taking a wait and see approach, depending on the news reports (which paint a very bleak and ugly scenario), and word of mouth. Our beaches are still beautiful, and I think for quite some time we'll have good days and bad days, depending on the winds and the tides. Yes it is a horrible, catastrophic event, but we are open for business and there is plenty to do if you can't go to the beach for a day or two!
Below is the latest swimming advisory posted in the NW Florida Daily News.

Daily News
WALTON COUNTY — Beaches from Miramar Beach access point eastward to the east end of Topsail State Park are open to the public for swimming.
According to an Okaloosa County Sheriff's press release, the health department has rescinded their health advisory after two consecutive high tides have shown no oil sheen or oil slick.
Officials observed in the water from the high water mark out to 100 yards from shore, the release said.
The waters will continue to be monitored for impacts from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
