Getting Ready for Chicago

I've spent this week getting focused on Chicago. The tournament will be incredibly tough in both singles and doubles. I'm looking forward to playing with Fran in doubles. I play my first match on Wednesday, but the draws haven't been posted, only first round match times. Some tournaments feel that if they post the draws too early, some players may look at their draws and based on who they will be playing, decide to not to show up. I personally like to know, but it really doesn't matter. I'll be prepared no matter who I play. Since this is an indoor hard court tournament, Phil and I have been able to go over to Sandestin a few times this week to hit on the hard courts. I don't seem to have a problem adapting to the surface. The indoor lighting may take a little getting used to. One thing I for sure won't miss is all the wind. It seems like we've had pretty stout winds for days now. Wind makes for a very frustrating practice session, but on the other hand, these same winds are keeping the oil spill away from us. Keep on blowin'!

We fly out Tuesday morning and have an indoor practice court reserved for Tuesday afternoon. Half the fun of these tournaments is seeing all my tennis buddies. The best part is being able to share all this with my favorite "tennis buddy"!
