We made the trip to Baton Rouge, really Gonzalez, on Tuesday afternoon in an easy 5 hour drive. After our ten hour drives to Naples and Houston in recent months, this five hour jaunt was nothing. Ricky and Susie have been most gracious and accommodating hosts. We started our competitive week with a juicy game of team gin rummy...girls vs. guys....needless to say Susie and I have prevailed two nights in a row now. Ricky has threatened to call in Clay, a 5.0 gin player to try to even the score. BRING IT!
Yesterday Phil and I spent the day at the courts at Bocage, a very nice club, with very nice people. We got in a good hour and a half workout in some very windy conditions. We spent the rest of the day watching matches, eating lunch, checking out the surrounding area then back to watch a little of the match that Phil was to play the winner of. Phil also had a short hit with Larry Back, a friend of ours from Little Rock. It was a long day, but fun. We're both ready to get our matches going. Phil plays this morning at nine, and I don't play until Saturday.
I'll blog today's results later on and add to the picture collection posted below.
