I've been home a week now and I'm just now beginning to feel rested and recovered. I spent a good part of last week dealing with knee buckling back spasms, thanks to a miserably, long and uncomfortable plane ride home. Muscle relaxers, pain pills and physical therapy finely gave me some relief by Saturday. I haven't hit a ball in over a week, and I'm beginning to feel anxious again, which is good. Phil had little time to recoup from his journey as he leaves today for Palm Springs to play his last tournament of the year, the National Hard Courts. He and Tom are going for the "grand slam" in hopes of capping off what has already been a phenomenal year for them. Phil decided to only play doubles, knowing that the slow, gritty hard court surface at Indian Wells would take a toll on his body by playing both singles and doubles. My only regret is that I can't be there with him to watch him play. I'll be waiting by the phone each day to hear his results though! Their first match is on Thursday. I'll keep you posted.
My tournaments are over for the year. I'll take the rest of November to recharge, spend a week at Thanksgiving with Phil in Columbus, then fire up again the first of December. My first tournament will be the National Clay Courts in Houston in March. The 2009 World Team and World Individuals are in Majorca, Spain in late April. I plan to go to the individuals for sure, and can only hope that I will make the team. I have my goals set and will work hard to make them happen. Journaling my experiences and results is somewhat therapeutic for me, and I truly appreciate your kind words of love and continued support!
