Semis Bound
We played our doubles at 11 this morning. I warmed up Trish for her 35 singles semis first, then Susan and I had a good warm up for our doubles. I was expecting and ready for a good doubles match. Both Susie and Mary are great doubles players. Susan and I seem to really click as a team. We're both serving and returning well, which as Phil had told me, is key to being good on grass. We didn't have a golden set by any means, but did win the first set 6-0. The second set we made a few more errors and they made more winners. We won 6-2. So it's on to the semis in both singles and doubles. I play singles first tomorrow at 10 then doubles later in the day. Susan and I have been warming each other up every morning this week and even though we play each other tomorrow, we'll still hit before our match. That's the beauty of events like this. Even though we're all fierce competitors on the court, we're all friends off the court and can separate the two. After our doubles match, Mom and I walked to a nearby deli for a quick bite, then I came back for a massage. I just wanted to get all the kinks out and be ready for tomorrow. Both of us, based on last years experience, had booked return flights for Saturday. Now, win or lose tomorrow, I'll be playing Saturday, so I spent the afternoon on the phone and computer changing hotel, rental car and airline reservations for a Sunday departure instead. A small price to pay for winning!
