Back to the Real World

Coming home after a long week of playing fun tournament tennis is always bittersweet. On one hand I'm glad to be home....sleeping in my own bed, showering in my own shower, and the dogs thrilled to see me. But on the other hand, I miss the daily interaction with all the other players, the competition, and the camaraderie. I had an uneventful trip home. By the time I arrived home, checked my mail, loved on the dogs and attempted to unpack, it was close to midnight before I went to sleep. My back was really tight and sore, so I took the prescribed drugs and had a restful night of sleep. Work today was thankfully slow, so I could ease back into the routine. Renee and Jerry did a great job covering for me while I was gone. I know it's a hardship on Renee when I'm away, because she has to cover all the teaching. She managed just fine, although I'm sure her shoulder could use the rest. We've got about 3 more good weeks of summer activity left before the schools start and summer vacations come to an end. My short term goal is to lay off a few days, heal my back, then gear up for the Hard Court Nationals. Phil has his Grass Courts and Clay Courts coming up this fall as well. It will be fun helping each other prepare for our next battles. I'll be posting intermittently over the next few weeks to let everyone know what's going on. Thanks again to everyone for all your support and well wishes!
