First Day Out and About

Since Phil has been home from the hospital, he has been out with me to run a couple errands, but has mostly stayed in the car. We've even been to a friend's for dinner to see our good friends, Armistead and Alice, in town from Atlanta. He didn't last long ther, because he's pain level was still pretty high.

Today was a milestone toward Phil's recovery. He felt like getting out of the house and coming to work with me. I had a short, easy morning that was shortened even more by my last lesson canceling. I thought Phil would be eager to leave right when I got off the court, but he was doing great...talking to all the guys and seeing everyone, who had been asking me daily for an update on his progress. It's good for him to get out of the house now.

The home PT is less than impressive. They don't push very hard. He'll have it at home this next week, then on to the out patient therapy. I know the real tough therapy will start. Right now I am doing the PT on the off days. Phil says that "for a sweet little girl, I'm meaner than a rattlesnake". I push him very hard!

Tomorrow (Sunday) is a much needed day off from work for me. I feel some good sleep coming on! Don't worry though, the "rattlesnake" will rear it's ugly head twice tomorrow!!

Please give my regards to Phil in his recovery. Tell him it's from "Mr. Smooth" from Lancaster Ohio.

He meant so much to me in my younger playing tennis days and I hope to see him (and meet you) sometime if we can edt out of Michigan and down to warm and sunny Florida. My best regards to you both -- Andy Vance
