We arrived in Columbus yesterday right on schedule, but not without a little excitement throughout the day.
Stan picked us up around 9 a.m. for our 11:30 flight out of Panama City. All was well until we were about 15 miles from the airport. I heard a slight clunk sound, felt the a.c. stop working and then heard Stan quietly mutter, "oh s**t". As he was watching the temperature gauge rise to hot, he figured it was a belt or something along those lines. As we approached a major intersection, and were only about 10 miles from the airport, Stan dropped us at a Shell station where we called a cab to take us the rest of the way to the airport. We made it fine with plenty of time to spare, and Stan was able to get to a fix it shop, where he then had the car towed back to Ft. Walton so his "fix it" guy could work on it. Our flights were uneventful. However.....
Upon landing in Atlanta, Phil had a message from his brother, Laile, that his sister, Linda, had had a heart attack. WHAT???? So we spent a good deal of time in the Atlanta airport getting details on her and how she was doing. We thought we might be landing in Columbus only to get on a plane to head to Denver. After talking to everyone we needed to speak with, we felt like she was out of the woods and there was no reason for us to go to Denver. Today she is resting comfortably after have two stents put in. They are now treating a blood clot as well. We hope she'll be home from the hospital the first of next week. Whew! Thank you Lord!
We had dinner with Phil's two son's and daughter in law last night. It was great to see them. I know Phil worries about them, and misses them when he's away. They have very busy professional and social lives and both love to travel. It's interesting to hear about all they do. Endless energy and always looking for their next adventure....always fun to see them.
I was hoping for a good nights sleep, and was so tired from being up the night before itching. I fell asleep fast, only to wake up around 2 a.m. with the hives itching again. MISERABLE is the only way to describe it. A severe itch, from the inside out. Nothing helps to ease the crawling, burning itch from within. I've taken the pills and followed doctors orders, but to no avail. Finally around 5:15 this morning the episode subsided and I was able to sleep. I've felt pretty good today, despite the rough night.
Phil and I had a good breakfast at my favorite spot, ran some errands, then headed over to Ohio State to hit some balls on the hard courts. The weather is spectacular right now. Very low humidity with temps in the low 80's. A very welcome relief from the sweltering heat and humidity in Destin. While we're here we've got some practices and matches scheduled. Looks like we'll try to leave for St. Louis on Tuesday afternoon, as long as we get everything here done as planned.
I'm praying for a no itch night tonight!
